The First Record of Homotherium from McFaddin Beach, Texas
Amoung the various other fossils found at McFaddin Beach which were fragmented and fractured, this specimen caught the eye with a single exposed incisor. Due to the rough condition the specimen was in, it was microCT scanned. This gave a better look inside to show that there were in fact four incisors and a canine. The canine is saber-like so comparisons were done with the two sabercats known from Texas and the surrounding Gulf Coast. The McFaddin specimen was more closely associated with Homotherium.
